Franklin Canyon sits tucked up above Sunset Boulevard. This is really a fantastic destination for a nice hike with your dog, HOWEVER, they are very strict about dogs being on a leash. There is big grassy fields and a variety a trails to take. It can be a little difficult to locate the trail heads if you are not familiar with the area. The park is broken up into two separate areas an upper area with a reservoir and a lower grassy area. You can do a short and easy "hike" with a stroll around the upper reservoir and duck pond or stretch it out a little with the Hastain Trail which is a mildly strenuous 2.3 miles, which will involve some hills. To hike the Hastain Trail: As you enter the park you will see an abandoned little house, make a right at there and head down to the parking area. You will find the trail-head from there. One word of warning, actually four: STOP SIGN PHOTO TICKETS. I think I made my point...Heads Up! You will be happy that you made the trip and once you have, you will be back.

I love Franklin Canyon! It's sort of off the beaten path, not as crowded as some of the other parks... it's like a little relief from the rush of the city, and it's only a short drive into the Beverly Hills hills... Love, love, love!
